Types of Volunteer Opportunities

We have different kinds of volunteers. Read on to learn more about these.

Member Support Volunteer (typically in the Member’s home)

Household Support:
  • Light housekeeping and other tasks

  • Paperwork management (not financial or legal advice)

  • Light gardening/yard work

  • Light home maintenance

  • Occasional help with pet care

  • Home repair assessment
Technology Support in The Home:
  • Phone, tablet, PC

  • Other electronics
Personal Support:
  • Companionship visit

  • Check-in phone calls


Drivers/Transportation: (the most requested service):
Providing Rides to appointments, shopping, events, airport, etc.
Note: Volunteers who wish to become drivers will complete additional training and orientation. Volunteers must have completed driver training before being scheduled for rides or offering a ride to a member.


Office Volunteers:
  • Answer messages left for WLLO Village

  • Problem solve with members to identify specific requests

  • Coordinate service requests with available volunteers using Village software

  • Connect member with vetted vendors when needed

  • Office administration including database management


Village Support:
  • Resource development including fundraising

  • Marketing and Outreach to continue to grow village

  • Member recruitment and retention

  • Volunteer recruitment, training, and retention

  • Website and database maintenance

  • Events and program development

  • Services: screened vendors (service providers) and community resources

  • Administration

  • Research answers for member requests
